yes. cold. i hate the cold. our managers are being very stingy about the heat.
speaking of cold, my fan blower/defroster is kaput. I could not leave work this morning for 2 hours (and I started defrost at 5:30) because I couldnt see a thing. I went to a mechanic, and he really bull-shitted me. I know because I looked up the retail price for the parts he listed at Checker Auto, and he was trying to overcharge me by an extra 180.00 plus labor. Why they be so dishonest? I need a man suit.
I heard on NPR's Car Talk that the reason so many people get ripped off is because car repair combines 1) a subject few of us know about with 2) expensive parts/expensive service and 3) little accountability for the mechanic...
Whether a mechanic comes back and says, "$150" or "$350", few of us would know the difference. We come into the situation only consigned to the fact it's going to be expensive.
