The Iraq Study Group, the group commissioned by Congress to make recommendations about Iraq, just released their 84-page report on Wednesday.
The war (surprise, surprise) is not being handled well. There has been a general decline in all aspects of security, politics, and economics. Their recommendations?
1) Give a timeline for US staged withdrawal
2) Build a coalition of international support
3) Talk to Iran and Syria
What did Bush have to say about it? He'd take some of their recommendations into consideration but refuses to talk to Syria and Iran. Oh yeah, and he won't give a timeline for US withdrawal. Translation: absolutely nothing is going to change.
The US has had the same foreign policy since the Mexican War. If we want something we take it. The only progressive presidents we've had were Nixon, Carter, and sometimes Reagan. Nixon dealt with the Chinese. Carter dealt with Yasir Arafat. Reagan dealt with Gorbachev.
Bush deals with Halliburton.
