Throw the bum out

Enough's enough. Although it's taken me nearly 5 years to get to this point, I must admit ... Bush has really got to go.

I voted for him in 2000 and I voted for him again in 2004. I liked his honesty, I liked his character. I even liked his bumbling. I liked the fact that Bush didn't care about the polls. I thought: finally a politician who does what he thinks is right. And I was SO GLAD that Michael Moore and Air America and Susan Sarandon and every other smug Hollywood intellectual had the election blow up in their face.

But here's what I don't like. I don't like Bush's oil cronies fleecing the entire economy at $2.50 a gallon. I don't like Halliburton getting a no-bid contract because they're friends of Dick Cheney. I don't like hundreds of Muslims -- terrorist or otherwise -- being squirreled away with no hope of legal process ... or ANY of the anti-terrorist legislation that gives this administration carte blanche to do whatever they want up to and including torture.

I like to think I'm practical. I know that we're not talking about Nazis here. I would never call Bush or Cheney or Rumsfield evil. But I don't think of Bush as honest anymore. He's too secretive and controlling to have that same honest, bumbling feel about him.

What's funny is that it wasn't any of the above that pushed me over the edge. It was the environment issue. I was blown away that Bush's chief advisor said the issue of global warming wasn't "worth discussing". That's morally repugnant.

Sigh.

Does this mean I'm becoming an environmentalist?!

I really wonder how much of this Bush has under his control, or how much his advisors have control. As an example, we all know the previous president was Hillary and not Bill, I think the same may be happening to Mr. Bush. Some of his advisors really need to be held responsible. Of course, Mr. Bush did appoint them and in the end he is responsible. Also, I heard a rumor about some sort of prosecution against the oil companies for price gouging during the hurricane season.

i think what bothers me most about bush is his inability to admit when he is wrong, going so far to announce "i will not be proven wrong," and thereby implying that his perspective is such that he's willing to warp truth around the gravity of his own headstrong funkified phallusmind.
