Big-time apologies, all, for my Houdini act.
I had a rough two weeks at school: two briefings, a monster of a test, and having to memorize over 35 different makes and models of airplanes. It was rough, and my blog fell to the wayside. But I'm back and this week should be slighly less daunting.
Chrissa was off a'vacationing with my family in Utah last week. Leaving me home playing the bachelor with Champ (my dog). On positive side, I could let the dishes pile up to the ceiling. On the other hand, I was counting down the days until my best friend (sorry Champ) got back. When you live with someone, your life grows around them.
I finished my Campbell book, as well as a Joyce-styled book about a jazz musician, called Coming Through Slaughter. I'm now reading an interesting author, Tom Robbins, who is a cross between Dave Barry and Connie Willis. The book's called Still Life with Woodpecker, and in it he brings up a Camus quote I touched on in a bygone entry.
The book's protagonist, a modern-day princess, asks, "Does the moon have a purpose?" To which the author responds...
Albert Camus wrote that the only serious question is whether to kill yourself or not.
Tom Robbins wrote that the only serious question is whether time has a beginning and an end.
Camus clearly got up on the wrong side of the bed, and Robbins must have forgotten to set the alarm. There is only one serious question. And that is:
Who knows how to make love stay?
Answer me that and I will tell you whether or not to kill yourself.
Answer me that and I will ease your mind about the beginning and the end of time.
Answer me that and I will reveal to you the purpose of the moon.

you should read "skinny legs and all" by tom robbins. It should be "up your alley." I really liked it. Tom Robbins is kind of a hit and miss.
So I've heard. I actually checked it out...I'm trying to push through this Woodpecker one, though it's lost some of it's flair...I really liked the first few chapters and now it's fizzling.
